Lakewood Ranch

Lakewood Ranch is located on 7000 acres east of I75 spanning Sarasota and Manatee County from south of University Parkway north to SR 64. It was designed to be a community where one could live, work and play.  The Commerce Center is located south of University Parkway. There are five villages: Summerfield, Greenbrook, Riverwalk, Edgewater and the Country Club.

The villages of Greenbrook and Summerfield have attracted many families.  So many, in fact, that a new middle school and elementary school needed to be built just east of Lorraine Rd.  The Country Club is popular with all ages, but many snowbirds and retirees choose to live there because of the wonderful golf courses.

Edgewater is a gated community just west of the County Club. It is situation on 160 acre Lake Uhlein and offers boating facilties as well as panoramic views of the lake.

Main Street, situated on Lake Uhlein, will have it's grand opening in March of 2006. A walking street with a variety of upscale shops, restaurants, a movie theater will provide a central meeting place for the residents.  A unique feature will be a bandstand park designed for picnics, art shows and outdoor concerts.  You can stroll peacefully along the street and relax on one of the benches facing the beautiful fountain.

Lakewood Ranch Country Club offers 36 holes of championship golf designed by Palmer Course Design Co.  The clubhouse reminds one of an Italian villa with marble floors, a library complete with fireplace, a ballroom up the gracefully winding staircase and the brides-room with balcony overlooking the entrance. What a marvelous place for a wedding reception!  Fine dining is offered in the dining room with the ability to offer dining for private parties.

The Legacy Golf Course is open to the public and offers 18 holes of golf.  Legacy received the prestigious four-star rating from Golf Digest Magazine.

The Athletic Center offers a wide variety of activities including tennis, a fitness center with two heated pools, a steam room, sauna, whirlpool and massage therapist. The Courtside Deli and Lounge offers food, drink and ice cream.

The Sarasota Polo Club offers Sunday games from December to April.  All are welcome to come to watch the games.  Bring a Picnic and tailgate to watch the games!
